Revisting Blogging

Hi Everyone,
So it's been quite a while since I've blogged due to crazy life changes and interesting happenings. I have been very busy with life but I am back, I am looking forward to sharing lots and lots of tit bits I find. I finally did what I always wanted to do and I fostered an elephant through The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. His name is Madiba and I fell in love with him, the orphanage is based in Nairobi and not only do they rescue elephants but they rescue rhino's as well.

I think more people should foster elephants as a gift for a christening, birthday, wedding or anniversary.

Happy Elephants make me smile :)

Toodu - Put your to do list to work

Now, you can stop beating yourself up, and instead get organised,
cleverly, with the help of Toodu.    Toodu is more than just a to do list. Adding an item to your
toodu list activates a non-intrusive introduction with the people
and companies that have put up their hands and said they can
help you get what you need to do, done.

Mardigras and JWT go under cover in Cape Town

How about going to a fancy dress party as a Traffic Light?
Or if you’re bigger boned, what about a post box?
Or telephone booth? Costume hire store Mardigras,
together with JWT Cape Town has dressed various
urban structures in central Cape Town in their very
own hand-stitched costumes.

The ‘soft and cuddly’ suited-structures have stopped
pedestrians in their tracks.

So keep an eye out, there might be a fire hydrant
just dying to meet you. www.mardigras.co.za

Frieda Lühl Jewellery

I received a beautiful ring for Christmas, a ring that I fell in
love with the moment I saw it. It's silver and copper, it's absolutely
pretty, one of my favourite items in my jewellery box.
I also met Frieda at the Neighbourhood Goods Market and I
fell in love with all her work. She was kind enough to let me
share her work with you.

The materials used in making my ring are silver and copper.
The silver ring becomes white after a specific process of
heating it up, putting it in acid and scrubbing it to draw a thin
fine silver layer to the top. The black hollow space around the
heart is oxidised. The copper heart is heat treated to give it's
red colour and is coated with beeswax to preserve
the colour. The ring is constructed from plate and the top is
hollow inside to keep it as light as possible.

The ring is part of the heart range created by Frieda which
was shown at her
solo exhibition in Windhoek.
For more photos on the heart range have a look at her website.
